What information determines a custom plush quote?
Start with one specification for each design, rather than a photo and a total budget. A front view alone may leave the depth, back construction and accessory attachment undefined. Supply the finished dimensions, reference views, fabric and filling preferences, face details, packaging, quantity per design, destination and required arrival date. Mark undecided items as requests for a recommendation.
Specify how height is measured: seated or standing, and whether ears or hanging loops are included. Ask suppliers to quote the same measurement and tolerance. A change in pose, panel count or embroidery area can alter the work even when the nominal height stays the same.
Which costs belong in the quotation?

How do quantity and size affect the budget?
Development and setup can be shared across the units of a design, while material, sewing, filling and packing recur across the order. That is a reason to request quantity-specific quotes, not proof of a fixed discount at a particular volume. A larger plush can require more material and shipping space; a smaller plush with many tiny parts can still be labor-intensive.
LovelyJoy's published MOQ is size-based and applies per design: 3,600 pieces below 20 cm, 2,400 at 20–35 cm, 1,200 at 35–50 cm and 800 above 50 cm. Confirm the tier at exactly 20, 35 or 50 cm. These are LovelyJoy's purchasing terms, not an industry-wide minimum. Colorway and custom-material requirements need separate confirmation.
For a 25 cm design, request the quotation against 2,400 pieces or your larger intended quantity. If you have two different designs, give each its own quantity and cost lines. Do not assume their combined total satisfies each design's MOQ.
How can two different quotes be compared fairly?
- Send the same version of the artwork, specification, packaging brief and quantities to both suppliers.
- Record inclusions and exclusions next to every cost line. Resolve missing amounts before calling one offer cheaper.
- Compare the named delivery point and responsibilities, not just abbreviations such as EXW or FOB. Ask your forwarder or broker to clarify destination charges.
- Compare the approval and payment milestones, inspection scope and revision policy alongside the total.
- Separate a first-order budget from a reorder budget. Confirm which setup items can be reused, rather than assuming all development costs disappear.
A useful reconciliation is: order production amount + separately charged development, samples and setup + separately charged packaging, testing and logistics. Divide the complete, consistently scoped amount by the order quantity only after resolving missing lines. This is arithmetic for comparing quotes, not a landed-cost or tax assessment.
What can be changed before asking for a lower price?
Ask for clearly defined alternatives: one standard fabric instead of a custom dye, embroidered detail instead of a separate sewn accessory where suitable, fewer removable pieces, or simpler unit packaging. Have the factory review appearance, construction, age suitability and testing implications. Do not remove required safety features or labels simply to reach a target unit price.
Compare alternatives against the same quantity and delivery scope. Retain the approved sample and a versioned specification so a lower quotation does not silently become a different product. No percentage saving is assumed here; only a revised quotation establishes the commercial difference.
When should price and schedule be confirmed?
LovelyJoy publishes 7–15 working days for standard sampling and 30–45 days after sample approval for regular production. Design work, revisions, testing, packaging approvals, shipping and customs need separate allowances. A production finish date is not a warehouse arrival date.
